FAST Monday - June 17 - Craft Street

Looks like a smallish group tonight. I'll be there at 7:00 or a touch earlier.

If anyone beats me there, get us a table for 6 just in case.

Secrets of the Mirage

you just drive the Mirage around flat out until the tires break loose Others (such as Philip) will disagree, but I'm of the opinion that if I drive this car until the tires break loose... as soon as that happens, I've lost some momentum that I can't get back. So, no... that's not how I drive it. I ...

Secrets of the Mirage

The Mirage is pure momentum. It doesn't accelerate. If the course allows speed to be maintained, and especially if it does so in a manner that most people don't SEE, or don't think they can carry speed through -- then the Mirage will shine. But, any kind of element that requires me to slow down, I'm...

Secrets of the Mirage

It's been considered.

One project at a time. Miata is under the knife presently. Then I need to decide what's next, and which of my other two cars to get rid of.

Tune 'n' 'charge 'n' tune

The fact that nothing inside the MS appears to be fried is a good thing. That means it's either a less visible internal failure of the MS (not likely, but not impossible), or it's a wiring problem. You've checked wiring from the injectors to the end of injector harness. So, next would be to check fr...

Typically about 20-25%. I'm at maybe 82 hp now. So... just under 100 hp. But, the gross numbers are irrelevant. Think of "20% power gain" on ANY car. It's a significant difference.

Secrets of the Mirage

It's days like today that make me think I should have just stuck with that plan to put a supercharger on this car.

It's still huge fun to drive, but to finish better than 19th overall (out of 40), it needed some quicker acceleration.

FAST Monday - June 17 - Craft Street

Once again, Monday calls to us. We've got a Dunnellon autocross to recap, another Dunnellon autocross to look ahead to, a Miata death kart to hear about, and surely much more. And if all else fails, we can discuss the merits of time travel. Craft Street has a great Monday special, a half-pound burge...

June 15 @ Dunnellon - Killer Course!

40 drivers braved the heat and dodged the potential rain for 5 runs on a very fun course of around 40-44 seconds (for most).

What else is there to say? It was a perfect day of autocross!

Thanks to all who participated and did their part to help the day go smoothly. :thumbwink:

Results are up.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. Had manual steering in my first Miata, in the FASTiva, and of course in the Spitfire. The Spitfire was the only one that was truly at home with it.

FAST Dunnellon Autocross - June 15

44 drivers. Two run groups of 22. The plan for now is to do one group before lunch and one group after. But, if it looks a LOT like it's going to rain after lunch, we may run both groups through 3-4 runs before lunch to ensure that everyone gets some dry runs... then do it again after lunch (rain or...

Never go down the rabbit hole at 1am when you have to get up in the morning! Started looking at wheels. Ultimately decided to stick with the '99 Corvette wheels. But, space is REALLY tight in the rear, rubs at full lock in the front with 2" front spacer and 3" rear spacer (Corvette wheels have crazy...

Registration closes tomorrow. We've got 41 entries at present, and the weather is looking very promising. Hot, but not even very humid, and probably no rain.
