Did you ever find out what that weird hole in the trunk was for?

89/90 Miata available

It's coming home on a trailer. It could very well be that it's just hydraulics and I could drive it home, I'm just being lazy. Word is that "the clutch failed" and the shop quoted almost $1100 to fix it.

We'll see what it all looks like tomorrow!

89/90 Miata available

Picking it up Saturday, sight unseen. They say it needs a clutch, and the pix are terrible... a little rust, though. The deal was too good to pass up. Absolute worse case, I sell the hard top, sell the car for scrap and still more than break even. Wish me luck! Oh, and Alex is interested in the car....

89/90 Miata available

Gracias! Gave them a call. They're going to send me some pictures when the car gets out of the shop. They had it towed this morning due to the clutch failing. (knowing Miatas, it's very likely the slave cylinder) A little more info if anyone's curious: It's not the mythical "cream puff" Miata that w...

Hmmm...

Do you know if it's a manual transmission? Any idea what kind of money they're looking for? Alex is forever looking for a fun car.

Self Isolation in the Garage - Post Your Car Projects

Inattentive is an understatement!

But, I guess you needed to paint a good portion of that car, anyway. And you got lucky... just the door. If had been the rear fender... that's not replaceable, and is extremely difficult to repair.

FAST - A New Hope

(I'm actually more of a Star Trek fan, but I couldn't resist.) Let me be the first to welcome Jonny Schneider to FAST! He has volunteered to take over the leadership role that we need. We met with him Wednesday evening, and we have confidence that with all of our help, he can do this. He comes to us...

"Freedom Factory" (formerly Bradenton Motorsports Park)

Where to begin... This is all 100% moot until some motivated soul takes over the operation of FAST. K&K's autocross requirements are the same for all who use them, but K&K doesn't send people out to check and see if you're doing things right. And, it's just as easy to not be aware of their requireme...

More importantly, if nobody steps up to run FAST, we won't be autocrossing anywhere.

More power + uber clutch = broken transmission/diff/axles?

Or is the Evo not prone to that?

Okay, let's catch you up just in case you're not up on current events: COVID happened and FAST went for over 6 months without an event. Steve and Loren came to the realization that they didn't miss the hassle of putting on autocross events as much they might have thought, and decided it was time to...

I'm with Steve. It doesn't have to be the end. Just like Steve and I did earlier this year... Put it out there and see who wants to pick it up.

Value: 1998 Evo V?

Car had a failed ignition coil that let a spark plug into the cylinder (?) and took out the block and piston. A bored EVO 6 block is included with aftermarket H-beam rods. Translation: "I don't have a clue what I'm talking about, and I'm hoping you don't, either. I overboosted the shit out of this ...

Tune 'n' 'charge 'n' tune

From what I've read, putting the TB before the SC makes idle control a lot better. You could try it "the easy way" and see if you like it.
