Endurocross! 2018

Postby Loren » Thu Feb 01, 2018 8:19 pm

Endurocross Registration is Open!

Endurocross is one of the most fun autocross variants we know of, and it happens to be very "casual" because each car is on course for so long that everything seems to happen really slowly. (for everyone but the driver on course) We try to squeeze one in every year if we can.

An "Enduro" autocross is one where each run consists of multiple laps of a course that is designed to allow easy looping and to be relatively easy to drive. We usually do 4 or 5 lap runs for a run time of about 3-4 minutes. That's right... a whole event's worth of autocross in ONE run! Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty intense and it WILL wear you out! This time, we'll be doing two runs on a variant of our "traditional" Enduro course. Here are the official Endurocross 2018 Rules.

The format of this event will be sort of a hybrid between our typical FAST Classic format (casual, limited entry, lunch included) and our typical FAST Open format (two sessions so that you don't have to be there all day). Be sure to read all of the details on the registration website!

• This is a FAST Special Event that is not suited to first-time autocrossers, which means that "some experience is required". If you've done at least one FAST event, you're welcome to attend, though we'd recommend a minimum of more like 3 events to get the most out of it.
• Registration is limited to 50 drivers. (25 drivers per session)
• The Endurocross is a unique autocross experience that can help you hone your skills by allowing you to immediately experience the same course several times so that you can identify mistakes and improve on the next lap. And, it's just plain fun!
• Lunch IS included for this event.
• In the interest of maximum run time, we'll start early, run late and NOT stop for anything once we're rolling. This means no Late Session course walk... if you want to walk the course, you need to be there BEFORE the Early Session driver's meeting!
• What are you waiting for? Get registered!

Endurocross is 2 weeks out. Registration closes in a week. And there are only 8 slots left available at this moment.

I'm gonna start pushing this on Facebook in a few days. Once word starts getting out to the unwashed masses, those last 8 slots should go pretty quickly. Get in while you can!

Oh, and order your t-shirt before next Friday!

And then there were none.

Looking forward to this one. Will give me a chance to get comfortable with my new suspension.

Order your Enduro shirts now! The order must be submitted Friday.

So far, this appears to be just about the most rare FAST shirt ever. 4 people have ordered them.

BTW, a couple people have requested a skidpad lately. We'll be setting up a casual practice skidpad at this event. If you're not getting enough tire wear on your Enduro runs and want to drive some circles, we've got you covered.

No way? Apparently Loren was still dizzy from the roundy rounders of today's prep doing a track event and need for a cheap burger and forgot to shut off visitors @ enduro:)

So cool. The Matt Sullivan pit crew snuck in after hours!! WooHoo. Matt will be well fed, well trained, relaxed, up to speed, cooled off AND driving his WINNING Copper Miata with secret torx socket booster to last lap victory. Smoky NASCAR burnout at finish. Go Matt.

Only three days away and not much chatter on this thread. Where is everybody? I'm excited. Gonna have fun in my stupidcharged car. Only three of us in M2 (WTF?), so everyone gets a sticker.

Smart people will fill up their car with gas, water and oil. Bring some essential tools. Fix your cooling fans. Run your heater. Check your brake pads for wear. Pack an astronaut diaper.

Some people even bring a trailer, kitty litter and a broom. It's an Enduro. More laps than a busy pole dancer can handle.

I'm doing my best to move the line of shame in an upward direction.

Oh, and Steve's co-driving the Mirage. So, you have to beat both of us.
