Good lord, 1 concrete block spaced slalom cones at the end. How the heck can some of us get our fat 4 doors to fit in between those!

Look closer. Those cones are not inline. There will be about almost a 5' path between them. Not wide enough that anybody can "straight-line" it, but wide enough that it's just a "wiggle". We've done it before, it's actually a really fun element.

Search the forum for "fishbone". We usually set the cones at an angle, and it's picked up that name. We've done it at least 3-4 times.

Hmmmmm I remember doing a couple of those in the past and I really sucked at them. I'm assuming the main goal is to steadily increase throttle while wiggling through everything. Increase throttle the deeper you get into it since it's spacing out more and then gunning it all the way as long as you barley make it past the last slalom cone to the finish?

If you look closely, as the spacing gets longer it gets tighter horizontally, ending with the last cone wall being offset to the hard side. Of course each cone on the map is about 4 feet wide, so we really won't know until we walk the course. A double cone on one side of the line appears to take up half the square, but in reality it may only consume 2 feet of space.

When you get to that level of detail, the map just can't do it. Yes, the "fishbone" will be very easy offset, right about 5 feet. You can kinda sorta see that on the map. Yes, the spacing will increase from about 30 to 50 feet as it goes, which should make it easier to accelerate through. Yes, the offset will tighten up as the spacing goes past 50'. How much? Eh... we'll see.

You guys know that we look at these things when we set them up... and then we drive the course to make sure it works as-intended. And if we need to tweak it to make it work, we do!

What I'm saying is... don't overthink the map. Do walk the course.

Every time I see the course the first time, I always say wow, there is a lot less spacing between the elements. Then when I walk it I think, I am going to do this, this and this. Then when I drive the course, I don't do this, this and this

Hey! Don't get so wrapped up in Easter and Spring Break and all that you forget to register for this event. Registration closes Monday.

The large number of Miatas spinning off into the dirt at recent events are posing a safety problem. Starting with this next event, all NA, NB1, and NC Miatas must fit a lirpa loof retaining strap to the rear suspension to control oversteer. Tech inspection will check for compliance.

Some of us don't need any luck. Whether I run alone or with a co-driver and lose I still end up with only 2 pts which will be another drop season end. Maybe next season the sole competitor will be granted 3 or 4 pts for 1st? Getting almost no points sort of defeats the advantage of pulling up the rear for those who actually show up?

Drew you have never beaten me in my vette on 100 fat tires :wise: AND when I beat you I get 4pts :thumbwink:
